In the Studio!

In the Studio logoIn the Studio! brings the recording lab to the classroom to create an original recording featuring original music and student lyrics. A collaborative and highly-interactive workshop, teachers, parents, students, librarians and community members are provided the opportunity to learn, write and perform music together using a variety of professional studio tools. One of CODA Program's core line of workshops, In the Studio! can also be offered in a series to including focus on production and songwriting.

 

Includes:

1. Introduction to the concepts and relationships between rhythm, meter, tempo, and beat through hands-on counting exercises and playing and listening to various rhythmic patterns.
2. Presentation of each component of the music studio including microphones, speakers, computers, MIDI keyboards, and music software.
3. Original musical composition through voicing selection. This process covers drums, bass, piano and more.
4. Recording of vocal samples and choruses over completed track. Ideas are improvised and added to the music.
5. A CD recording which is left on-site and available for all to enjoy and duplicate as desired. (Note: additional CD's may be purchased from CODA Program.)

 

Group Options:

This workshop can be tailored to groups of any size and all grade levels.

 

Achievement:

Increased knowledge of modern music studio technology and methods of music production, performance and improvisation, and collaboration skills for music creation. This workshop satisfies Items 1, 3, 4, 6, and 8 of the National Standards for Music Education set by the National Association of Music Education.
